The Role

The CPO is responsible for overseeing the planning, strategy and execution of Keap’s product initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CPO will partner with the CTO to deliver a product customers use and love, while increasing Net Revenue Retention and free trial conversions.  The CPO must possess great industry expertise, product-led growth experience, and a passion to serve small business entrepreneurs and their teams.  As the senior leader of the Product Management team, the CPO will own and build a team that delivers on the goals of Usage, NRR and Free Trial Conversion. The CPO will lead product strategy, helping the company to achieve its Mission.

  1. Deliver a product that customers use and love, as demonstrated by usage rates. 
  2. Increase Net Revenue Retention through expansion and churn reduction.
  3. Increase customer acquisition through Free Trial Conversion and in-product upgrades.

The Work

  • Build out the platform to be the leader of Sales & Marketing Automation (SMA) for Entrepreneurs. Our vision is to serve entrepreneurs with an all-in-one SMA platform that helps them grow sales, save time and find their freedom.  Keap has built a strong product line, but more work remains to nail product-market fit for our Lite, Pro and Max editions, while providing an extensible platform that customers and partners love. 
  • Ensure effectiveness of Product Management, Product Design and Product Marketing functions.  Oversee all aspects of Product strategy to ensure customers love the product and it drives NRR and FT Conversions.
  • Partner with the Product Development team to deliver product updates on time and on point.  The partnership between PM and Dev is critical to ensure we drive toward a shared vision that results in a product customers use and love, while creating market momentum as the leader in SMA for entrepreneurs.
  • Continuously improve self-service in the product to drive efficient customer success: In both the onboarding experience and the ongoing experience, self service must be the goal of the Product and Technology orgs.
  • Build a high performing, highly engaged Product team: Set the vision for a high performing product organization that leads the product strategy and takes ownership of product success as “mini-CEOs” of Keap.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales and Partners to increase customer and MRR Acquisition: Use Free Trial, Freemium and in-product upgrades to optimize conversions and efficiently scale acquisition. 
  • Partner with Customer Success to drive up Net Revenue Retention. Work closely with Customer Success to ensure a beautiful product experience that helps small businesses grow, reducing churn and increasing expansion. 
  • Communicate effectively to customers and stakeholders. Manage the relationship with your customers and all cross-functional stakeholders. Drive cultural alignment through Keap’s Leadership model and Core Values. Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners in CS, Sales, Partners, Product, Finance, and People Ops.
  • Lead the executive team and board in matters of Product strategy.  Provide product insights to executives and board members and help the company’s senior leadership better serve our customers, partners and the market.

Competencies:

  • 7-10+ years experience in product management at a fast-growth SaaS company
  • Significant experience and success serving small growing businesses (especially $100k-$3M in revenue)
  • Prior experience in a product strategy role owning product management, product design and product marketing
  • Significant experience in B2B SaaS, with an emphasis on PLG–Free Trial, Freemium and Expansion
  • People-focused leader with proven ability to partner with the Technology team to achieve success
  • Excellent fit with the Purpose, Values and Mission of Keap
  • Strong technical depth and ability to learn quickly, balanced with sharp business acumen
  • Excellent collaboration and organizational skills, excelling at both high-level thinking and execution
  • Strong leadership background, with strengths in decisiveness, courage and compassion
  • History of deep nuanced understanding and expertise in product, especially in automation
  • Deep connection to entrepreneurial small businesses and passionate about empowering entrepreneurs
  • Deep experience with platform development and partnerships 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Experience and Education:

  • Domain expertise in small business sales and marketing software
  • Senior product management leadership at a $100M+ SaaS company
  • Category creation experience
  • Expertise in Product/Market Fit (PMF) for the small business market
  • Domain expertise in small business growth
  • Experience working in or owning a small business
  • Strong command of SaaS math and the impact of PLG on key SaaS metrics
  • Knowledge of CRM and marketing automation technologies and methodologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related area; MBA preferred
