9 new website announcement ideas for your site launch

Designing a new website can be an incredibly time-intensive and costly process, but it can also propel your business to new heights! From an increase in new customers to an increase in revenue, the benefits of successfully launching a new site are enough to offset your initial investment. But to ensure your site launch is successful, you must generate interest and anticipation leading up to the launch.

To help you come up with some unique ways to announce the launch of your new site, we’ve interviewed nine marketing experts and asked them to share tactics they’ve used for their own business!

Ensure correct timing on announcements

”After all the hard work that goes into strategically crafting a new website, you might want to scream it from the rooftops when it finally goes live. The best tip I have for announcing the launch of a new site is to do just that! Get on all your company’s social media platforms and share the news with all your followers. While this is pretty common advice, it is important not to overlook this element. Build buzz around the site launch in the weeks leading up to it and make sure that the announcement goes live at the same time on all platforms. Double-check the link and make sure there are no technical errors with the new site once you announce it to the masses. Social media makes it easy for supporters to share the big news, so encourage your network to scream the launch of the new website from the rooftops with you!”

Add a coming soon page

”One of the best ways to announce the launch of a new website is to create a coming soon page. A coming soon page helps you build excitement pre-launch and it gives visitors a preview of what your site is all about. Plus, you'll have something to link to during pre-launch marketing and you can add an opt-in form to your coming soon page so you can start building your email list right away.”

Syed Balkhi, WPBeginner

Promote on LinkedIn

”Ask your employees to build anticipation on their LinkedIn accounts! By having a new employee post each week leading up to the launch, you can build organic interest and have a collection of individuals looking forward to your launch date.”

Noah Downs, Montauk Services

Write a blog post announcement

”When launching a new website, make sure to write a blog post about it! Not only is this great for SEO purposes (yay content!) but this is also an opportunity to share your brand’s story and go over some of the key improvements that come with the launch of the new site. Having a central location with all this information is great to refer back to when you share the news with clients/customers in emails as well as on social media.”

Candi Luciano, Y Scouts

Mix up social ads and organic posts

”The launch of a new website should be connected with a promotion on another platform such as social media with links driving people to the new site! I would highly suggest using a mix of both paid social ads and organic posts to ensure that you are connecting with your existing following but also expanding your reach to potential customers and/or patients in your target demographic. If you aren't experienced with social media advertising, I recommend looking for freelancers or agencies to partner with, as they have the expertise to make sure you are making the most of your marketing budget.”

Involve + highlight your team

”When we launched Terkel, we created an article announcement that highlighted insights from the team involved in the launch. Involving and highlighting the team makes the request to “share the news” of a new website launch on a personal social media feed easier. Alternatively, you can always ask your team to share the news of a website launch on LinkedIn. But, adding a personal connection to the launch helps incite enthusiasm to make the launch successful.”

Brett Farmiloe, Markitors

Invest in a graphic designer

”Invest in a great graphic designer who can create eye-catching visuals you can post on social media or add to your email campaigns. This can really make all the difference for your launch, and it also gives your audience a taste of what to expect from your new site in terms of branding.”

Vanessa Molica, The Lash Professional

Send a direct message to everyone in your database

”One very simple way to announce the launch of a business' new website is to send a direct message to everyone in your database. Let them know when your site goes live. Why you changed your site. Was it to better serve your customers? Highlight some new features on your site that your audience may be interested in. Even give a gift to anyone who provides you feedback on your new site. Get your current audience engaged in this monumental event.”

Steve Feld, Business Breakthrough Strategist

Social media tease

”A teaser on your company social media channels can be a fun way to captivate your audience and get them excited for what is coming next. Once the site is ready to be launched–press releases, blog posts, and social media posts are all excellent ways to get the word out.”
