Yesterday morning we had a quick company celebration to officially launch our new company name and product, Keap. I’d like to share some context for those who are wondering why. Why change the name? Why now? Why Keap?
Over a decade ago, Infusionsoft set out on an ambitious 10-year mission (we called it the Everest Mission) to: "Create and dominate the market of all-in-one sales and marketing software for small businesses.”
Many said we were delusional (let's face it, we probably were!) but we went to work and we did it. We created a category that didn’t exist for small businesses. As a result, small businesses can now do things that were just a dream a few short years ago. (How’d we survive before Campaign Builder?!?)
We always knew that our success would attract competitors. And it did. We knew that our competitors would copy us, poke fun at our name ;) and try to beat us. And they have. To be honest, we welcomed the competition because it forced us to get better as a company and as a product. More importantly, our competition pushes us to do better for small businesses.
In 2017 we neared the completion of our Everest Mission and quickly followed up with our new Mission to Mars: "Simplify growth for millions of small businesses."
The creation of the Mars mission demands that we reinvent ourselves, again, and requires us to learn how to serve millions of small businesses—not just thousands.
To “get to Mars” we need to do 3 things:
First, we needed a new name and brand identity. Keap is simple. It’s a single-syllable, unique, ownable name. It captures the essence of our purpose, which is that we help small businesses keep going, keep serving, and keep growing.
Second, we innovate and find more ways to serve our existing Infusionsoft by Keap users. To spur this initiative along, in 2019 we are doubling the number of people working on the existing Infusionsoft by Keap product. We’re also doubling the number of teams working on features that our partners use to serve our customers. It will remain the same CRM and marketing automation powerhouse it’s always been with a focus on improving the capability and usability of its powerful sales and marketing automation features.
Third, is to address the audience that has been asking for an easy-to-use client management system. For every marketing and tech savvy business owner out there, there are many more who have no appetite for power and customization. What this majority wants is a simple, turnkey solution. We designed Keap for service-focused small businesses looking for a simple tool that centralizes their data and empowers them to deliver great service that turns leads into happy clients who refer. Keap is available for them now, and it’s getting better every day.
Whether you’re already using Keap or Infusionsoft by Keap, or considering either product, I hope you take one thing away from this message: Keap’s sole purpose is to help your small businesses succeed. We are here to serve you. We are here to help you organize, follow up, and automate so that you can better serve your clients, grow sales, and save time.
We’re clear that it’s not our name change that creates value for you. Real value is created when we make amazing software that is a joy to use and when we show up as your partner to help your business succeed. I’m excited for you to see what we will deliver to you this year. The best is yet to come!
