It’s time for another installment of the play of the month, and we’re moving forward full steam ahead to share a simple strategy that can lead to big payoffs for your business.

Similar to our last play about the power of dynamic email content, this month’s play will focus on helping you further level up your email strategy and increase engagement. The beauty of the tactic we’re going to cover is that it can fit seamlessly into any Keap user’s marketing automation strategy, and it’s something you can start utilizing today.

If you’re a DIYer, this play is right up your alley. But just in case you want a break from the DIY lifestyle, we’ve also included a resource that could help take some work off your plate, save you time and boost your automation strategy even more. Read on and watch the video for all the details

One small change = a big impact

Sending an email isn’t enough. That might sound a bit harsh at first, but in the world of saturated inboxes, it’s the truth small businesses need to come to terms with.

Your leads and customers are receiving countless emails every day. In fact, you probably are too! We all know how hard it can be to keep up with an inundated inbox, and important emails can often be unintentionally ignored or deleted.

Having your marketing emails doomed for the trash folder doesn’t have to be your fate, though. You can combat a busy inbox and stand out to your leads and customers by following a simple strategy:

Pair every email you send with a text message.

Sounds too good (or too easy) to be true? We promise it’s not. By sending a corresponding text with every email, you’ll be able to capture the attention of three types of email ignorers:

  • People who don’t check their inbox unless they have a reason to
  • People who notice your email and care about it, but plan on opening it later
  • People who opened and read your email, but plan to take action later

By sending a text, more specifically sending a text after you’ve already sent an email, you will draw your contacts’ attention back to the message you worked so hard on.

Why does it work?

Texting and email data offer a lot of clarity into why this tactic is so effective. Check out the stats below:

  • On average, text messages have a 98% open rate, while emails have a 20% open rate (Gartner).
  • 90% of texts are opened within three minutes, but it often takes hours for emails to be opened (Tatango).
  • Text messaging comes with an average conversion rate of 29%, which is nearly double that of email (Mailmodo).

These bits of data demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of text marketing, but that doesn’t mean you should abandon your emails altogether. Email marketing offers much more space for you to convey your message than text messages, so instead of eliminating them from your marketing plan, simply combine them with a punchy text message to get your audience’s attention. This offers the best of both worlds and creates a cohesive experience for your contacts.

Watch the video below for more details on implementing this strategy and information on how Keap can help.
