If you’re anything like me, holidays sneak up on you. Some years, I've even forgotten my own birthday – oops!
But when it comes to running your business, you can’t afford to miss out on holidays because they’re perfect marketing opportunities. So, in this blog, we’ll review five important holidays in March and provide campaign ideas that you can bring to life with marketing automation software.
So get in a festive mood and start scrolling to ace your March marketing initiatives.
March Marketing: 5 holidays and observances your business needs to capitalize on
1. Employee Appreciation Day – March 7, 2025
March kicks off with a big day: Employee Appreciation Day. You can’t afford to miss this one!
At the very least, you need to find ways to show your team love, such as a surprise day off, a catered lunch, a thoughtful gift, or a fun employee outing.
There are so many things you can do, but you know your team best, so trust your instincts and set out to make this day special.
Don’t stop there, though. Consider extending this celebration to your audience. One way to do this is to craft a social series highlighting specific team members and letting your followers get to know them a bit. This will engage your team and make them feel special, humanizing your brand and fostering a more personal connection with your followers.
Pro-tip: Turn this into an email series with your marketing automation and CRM software, and sprinkle employee appreciation highlights throughout the month.
2. International Women’s Day – March 8, 2025
Don’t pass up the opportunity to celebrate the women of your business this International Women’s Day. Whether employees or customers, this is a great chance to do something thoughtful for the women around you.
Campaign ideas for this day can be broken down into two segments:
Employees: Put your marketing automation software to work by crafting an email series that celebrates the women who help make your business successful. You can highlight their roles, achievements, and fun facts. And, of course, make sure to thank them for all they do. This gesture won’t take you much time (especially if you use Keap AI to help craft it), but the effects will leave a lasting impact.
Customers: One way to celebrate this day with your audience is to run a special deal. But to make it more interesting, combine it with the idea above. Instead of just celebrating internally, you could craft an email that highlights these women to your customers. Then, simply provide a special discount or promo code to go with it, or include each woman’s favorite product or service and run a deal on their picks.
These are just two ideas, but there are so many ways you can make this a fun, impactful day for your team and your audience.
3. National Pi Day – March 14, 2025
I can’t tell you why, but people love pi day – even I love it, and math is definitely not my strong suit. But Pi Day is more about pie (emphasis on the "e") than it is about 3.14159. It's all the puns that you can make about this day that make it so enjoyable.
So, if you want a piece of the pi (pun intended), capitalize on this day by coordinating something fun for your contacts. Here are some ideas:
Pie giveaway: Use social media or other platforms to invite followers to enter a giveaway for free pie and a discount. If your audience is local, partner with a neighborhood bakery to make this campaign more personal and to benefit a small business. This can even be a great way to collect leads.
3.14 promo: Use the number pi (3.14) to run a special, limited-time discount. For example, invite customers to use the code “PI” at checkout to save $3.14 on their purchase.
Trivia: Host a trivia contest on your social media to quiz people about both kinds of pi(e). It’s a great way to reward customers and boost engagement simultaneously!
4. St. Patrick’s Day – March 17, 2025
Break out your green and channel the luck of the Irish on March 17. St. Patrick’s Day is a fun day to market around, and you can really get creative with your campaigns.
If you’re struggling with ideas, here’s one to get you started:
Make it your contacts' lucky day and run a flash promotion that expires on March 17. The promo can be whatever you want, but make it a limited-time sale to add urgency. Automate a few messages, including an announcement email, a reminder email, and a last-chance text.
If you’re a Keap user, you have all the marketing automation tools in your app to bring this campaign to life quickly. There are the ready-to-use Proven Automation Templates to save you time and Keap AI to help you write stellar, creative copy that will fit the Irish theme and give your audience a laugh.
5. First Day of Spring – March 20, 2025
At first glance, this day may not seem worthy of its own marketing campaign, but think again. Winter is coming to an end, and many people can’t wait for spring and summer. That’s why it’s a perfect time to reach out to your audience with a fresh, seasonal marketing campaign.
Usher in (hopefully) warmer temperatures with content that will catch the attention of leads and customers. Your campaign could feature a new product or service, a product bundle, or even a giveaway that drives traffic to your site. You can make these offers enticing and eye-catching by incorporating some fun Spring colors (think pastel shades of yellow, purple, pink, and blue) and graphics.
Don’t forget to build anticipation around this campaign with the help of your automation and CRM software. Leading up to your promotion, schedule texts and emails that hint at what’s to come so your audience keeps an eye out for your big reveal.
Bonus: Daylight Saving Time
Daylight Saving Time is March 9 this year, and it’s an important day to remember for parts of your audience (depending on where they live).
Marketing automation can segment your contacts based on their location. Then, send a reminder about the time change and include a special perk to make losing an hour of sleep a little easier.
This campaign may not work based on your location, audience, or what you sell. So don’t feel pressure to include it if it doesn’t benefit your business!
